Anyone can benefit from Pilates?
In your 20-30’s you can enjoy the more athletic aspects of Pilates training. You will develop your strength by practising the intermediate and advanced repertoire. If you have the disposition to challenge yourself and are willing to find the body mind connection you will feel very rewarded whether you have an athletic background or not.
In your 40’s and over you are busy, working long hours and not exercising enough. Your body quickly loses suppleness and strength. Self guided exercise programs at the gym don’t necessarily provide you with the level of attention you need to get back into shape or target problem areas and that is where we can help you. Each Pilates workout is modified slightly to suit your body’s needs for that day. With our progressive approach, we can help you achieve a much better quality of life and enjoy exercising again.
As you get older (and wiser), normal everyday tasks that were once so easy become just that little bit harder, like getting out of the car or bending down to pick up something off the floor. Pilates will teach you safe and functional movement patterns helping you to maintain your strength and flexibility and allowing you to enjoy life to the fullest.
During pregnancy Pilates can offer you a safe and enjoyable workout, while you prepare your body for the demands of childbirth. We will modify your program to suit the different stages of your pregnancy. Many women practice Pilates up until the week prior to birth.
New mums seeking to improve core strength and restore pelvic floor function will benefit from Pilates practice not only by increasing tone, but also by achieving better posture and learning how to switch on the “core” when handling the baby. While finding the time to come to a workout may be hard, the rewards are high and regular “me” time will leave you energised and ready to take on anything!
